the prophet

im not that big of a reader
i mean i enjoy doing it but i just never find the time to
but recently i've started reading again on online librarys and stuff and its been great
one of my favorite authors is jason reynolds but i'll talk abt him another day probably
i recently started reading this book on spirituallity called the prophet and ive fallen in love with it
i came accross the book because of mad season's song "river of deceit", which was lyrically based off of the prophet
so i began reading and i just cant put the damn book down man its great
it's basically abt this prophet living in a city, but he decides its his time to go so he goes to the harbor for a boat
and when everyone finds out he's leaving they all surround him and ask him things about life and his views
its like 18 poems about a buncha stuff like knowledge, pain, children, and love. real interesting stuff
i don't agree with ALL of it but im still fascinated by some of the lines in the book
my favorite sections is definitely "on pain", because that sections holds my favorite quote which is
"much of your pain is self chosen." like holy shit wow i love that quote wow
i also really like the section "on friendship", mainly because of this one quote that goes hard asfuckl
"for what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill? seek him always with hours to live."
like woah thats such an interesting way to put it
the one about your children and knowledge has some really cool and insightful stuff too.
i've been reading the pdf form of it because i don't have the hard copy but i plan on buying it soon! hopefully within the next month
but yeah thats basically the whole reason i wrote this post, i just wanted to share this really cool book i've been reading
again, its a book on spirituality not really a certain religion, he does mention god but it dont really matter
if you're looking for some crazy outlook on life and new perspectives i def recommend this book its fuckin fantastic
anyways im done, till next time.
